When you think of a DJ, you think of energy, style and DJ Lou brings the energy to a crowd every young DJ can only aspire to do. This Bronx native was born Angel Garcia in Ponce, Puerto Rico, DJ Lou was known by friends and family as Luisito, which became Lou for short. “It’s something that just stood with me.”

DJ Lou learned at an early age that he had a passion for music. “It helps me think and motivates me in all aspects of my life.” He quickly learned how to turn his passion into skill, diversifying his talent and is now a master in all genres from pop, latin, hip hop, reggae and techno. As a DJ his influences come from Da Union’s DJ O. Minaya, DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Koolaide and DJ Danny Dee because they seemed to perfect the craft while having fun. “They always kept the crowd going. I wanted that same feeling, “said DJ Lou, “I want fans to feel my vibe and my energy i give thru the music.”

In 2008 DJ Lou DJ-ed for a major French handball tournament held by Nike and The New York Mets. For more than a year, DJ Lou has been New Roc City’s Official DJ. Most would compare DJ Lou to DJ KHALID because he is very energetic, constantly working hard on new songs, and is writing great music. He has interviewed Mr. Cheeks of the Lost Boyz, BOB of the Garcia Family, DJ Kool Mike Ski, Dylon of Making Da Band, Jus Rolle, and DJ Kev Ski.

DJ Lou believes loyalty, respect, and friendship is what is missing from the industry. And his future goals are not monetary, humbly he wants the youth to not only enjoy music, but to teach them to listen and understand music as well. He is one of the few DJs who heavily promotes new talent on each of his sets.

A DJ’s job is to play music, while relieving the daily stresses, allowing people to dance freely to the sounds of different genres. Catch DJ Lou doing all three on sikmixxradio.com (Thursdays 6-8pm).
